Timberland Management

Cotton-Hanlon, Inc.
Exclusive Hunting Leases          Standing Timber For Sale

Cotton-Hanlon, Inc. was founded in 1921 by Berton J. Cotton and Howard A. Hanlon. The company's original business was the manufacture of hardwood lumber with the first two sawmills near Cayuta, New York. Over the last 78 years the company has developed many businesses including a major one stop retail operation - The Home Complete - in Odessa, New York. However the backbone of Cotton-Hanlon, Inc. has always been the ownership and management of timberland. This timber resource at one time included land in South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and New York. This resource expansion led to the establishment of a very successful sustainable timberland management plan that has been in place nearly 50 years. Part of this program is our hunting lease business started in 1970.

Today the company's only business is the long term profitable management of nearly 33,000 acres of timberland in New York and Pennsylvania. This includes the sale of 1,500,000 - 2,000,000 board feet of standing timber each year as well as the expansion of our hunting lease program. Today that program represents 230 leases covering over 30,000 acres with many acres of prime locations for deer and turkey hunting still available.
